HiQ back Blomqvist in 2010 Macau outing

Sweden’s leading IT management consultancy, HiQ, have continued their support of 16-year-old Tom Blomqvist by funding a one-off Formula BMW drive at the legendary Macau street circuit. The event which will run alongside the ‘blue-ribbon’ Macau Grand Prix on 18-21 November 2010 will allow Tom to gain valuable track time on 6.2km circuit ahead of entry into the prestigious Formula 3 race in years to come.

“HiQ have been one of my key sponsors since 2008 and I cannot thank them enough for providing me with this opportunity,” said Blomqvist.  “Obviously I will be looking to do them proud by securing a strong result, but the main objective is to get as much track time as possible. It is really important to get some laps under my belt and learn the circuit before coming back to compete in F3.”

2010 has already been an incredibly successful season for Tom, who earlier this term became the youngest ever winner of the highly regarded Formula Renault UK Championship. His on-track success has also seen him shortlisted for the coveted McLaren Autosport BRDC award, for which the winner receives an official test drive in a Vodafone McLaren Mercedes Formula 1 car as part of the prize.

The Macau Formula BMW race also doubles up as the Formula BMW Pacific Championship season finale and will take place on the morning of 21 November 2010 (local time). In addition to single-seater action from Formula BMW and Formula 3 the event will also host the final two rounds of the highly-charged World Touring Car Championship.
